I’ve been working in the fitness industry for a while now. I’ve worked at big box gyms here in Sacramento and hold multiple fitness certifications. I don’t necessarily feel like I learned a whole lot about the human body and how it works until I started doing my own research. I really credit osteopathic medicine, myofascial massage, and practitioners like Paul Chek, Thomas Myers, Robert Sapolsky and idea Rolf. These people answered the deep questions I had about the body and how it’s supposed to move. There is so much more to fitness than muscle and fat. Sadly, the industry is saturated with “How to get ripped in 6 weeks” gurus out there clouding us from the “Good stuff.”
Fitsom studios have been such a big part of my life over the last four years. It’s truly incredible to see what it’s become. From a garage to a place of true health and wellness, I couldn’t be prouder of the people working here today.
A hip hinge! There is something truly elegant in a nice hip hinge. It demonstrates so much. If you really look at the squat, deadlift, kettlebell swing, lunge… All of them are a variation of hip hinging.
Biggest Physical Accomplishment
Completing a 20 miles hike while in the marine corps with a good 50+ lbs of gear. It might not sound like a lot of weight, but trust me the human body has nothing to do with a hike that long or a pack that heavy. It’s truly all mental toughness.
I have to say it’s my mother’s enchiladas. And if we want to get fancy with it, there is nothing wrong with a steak, mashed potatoes and mushrooms from ruth’s Chris.

Do For Fun
I am a big fan of the business. I love learning and working on our business. I love history, philosophy and just recently found computer programming. You can find me running around Curtis Park with our dog Achilles or working out at the studio. Trail running has been a hobby for some time now. It’s meditation for sure!
